Welcome to Wildest Vet, where we offer two immersive and hands-on wildlife programs set in the malaria-free southernmost region of South Africa. Designed to give you real-world exposure to wildlife care and conservation.

Two Unique Options

In 2026, we offer two terrestrial-based programs:

The Veterinary Field Program – focusing on wildlife veterinary medicine through fieldwork, theory, and hands-on procedures.
The Wildlife Conservation Program – emphasizing wildlife monitoring, management, behavior, and species protection in the field .

Which Program is Right for You?

Our programs cater to two distinct profiles:

The Veterinary Field Program – for qualified veterinarians, vet students, and experienced veterinary nurses/assistants.
The Wildlife Conservation Program – for aspiring wildlife professionals, animal keepers, zoologists, biologists, naturalists, pre-vet students, or anyone passionate about wildlife and environmental conservation.

Both programs are designed to deliver a powerful, immersive learning experience in the heart of African biodiversity.

Why Choose Wildest Vet?

Our programs are led by renowned wildlife veterinarian Dr. Willem Burger, who brings over 30 years of experience and has trained more than 300 international students. Participants learn directly from real conservation and veterinary situations, with opportunities to take part in both scheduled and emergency wildlife interventions.

From March to July, select sessions are available with French-language support, thanks to the presence of Dr. Eugénie Petges, who provides live translation of all theoretical content and field support for French-speaking participants. While English is the main language on-site, a basic understanding is recommended (but not mandatory) to fully enjoy the group dynamic and cultural exchange.

What Will You Experience in the Field?

Whether you join the veterinary or the conservation program, you’ll gain exposure to iconic African wildlife. Participants may assist or observe procedures involving the Big 5, including rhinos, elephants, lions, as well as a wide variety of antelope species, predators, and endangered animals.

The experience varies depending on the season, but all programs are designed to maximize learning opportunities in wildlife care, tracking, monitoring, and conservation efforts.

Set in a stunning, malaria-free area, our camp provides a safe and immersive base for learning. We accept a maximum of 10 participants per session, ensuring personalized mentorship, group cohesion, and meaningful field exposure.
