ABOUT US
WildestVet: Unique Veterinary-Led Wildlife Conservation Experiences in Africa
WildestVet exists for those who want to experience Africa’s wildlife through meaningful, hands-on veterinary-led conservation — students, adventurers, nature lovers, conservation photographers, and those wanting real involvement.
Why We Do What We Do
Africa’s wildlife faces increasing pressure — habitat loss, human–wildlife conflict, injuries, and environmental change. Every day, veterinarians play a critical role in protecting species, stabilising populations, and ensuring the future of conservation. YET, real, hands-on wildlife veterinary conservation experiences are rare, limited, and often inaccessible.
We designed Wildest Vet to elevate your conservation experience.
MISSION: Inclusive field-based conservation that safeguards Africa’s wildlife.
VISION: A world where more people — from students to adventurous professionals & conservationists — understand the true value of conservation because they participated, contributed, and have been changed by it.

THINGS TO KNOW
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need veterinary training or prior wildlife experience to join a program?
Not always. For the Veterinary Student Field Program, participants should be enrolled in veterinary or pre-veterinary programs (or have comparable qualifications).
For the Hybrid Conservation Experience, no medical or prior wildlife experience is required — just a passion for conservation, respect for wildlife, and a willingness to follow guidelines and instructions.
What kind of accommodation and living conditions should I expect?
Accommodation is in shared lodgings suited to field conditions: basic but safe, clean and comfortable. Expect communal living spaces, shared rooms, shared bathrooms (depending on group size), simple meals, and a rustic field-lifestyle environment. The experience is about authenticity and immersion, not luxury — but we ensure respect for safety, hygiene, and comfort within that context.
Do I need to pay a deposit? What is the payment schedule?
Yes — to confirm your spot, a deposit is required (amount and schedule will depend on the intake and program). After deposit, balance payment will typically be requested several weeks before arrival. Exact payment terms will be provided upon acceptance.
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Cancellation and rescheduling policies vary by intake and timing. We ask that participants inform us as soon as possible. Depending on how much notice is given, part of the deposit may be refundable, or you may be offered a place in a future intake. Please refer to our Refund Policy at the bottom of this page for more information.
How does this program contribute to conservation? Is it more than just volunteering or tourism?
Yes — our programs are vet-led and conservation-centered. Participants work on real wildlife veterinary and conservation operations: medical procedures, species monitoring, habitat support, population management, or field research. Your participation contributes tangibly to wildlife protection efforts, not just tourist-style experiences.
What payment methods do you accept?
We offer several secure and convenient payment options. You can pay through a secure payment link, powered by Yoco, sent directly to you via email, or by bank transfer (international and local transfers accepted). Once your application is received, we’ll send you your preferred payment method with step-by-step instructions to complete your booking.
Please Note:
Additional charges such as card processing fees, foreign exchange fees, or international transfer costs may apply depending on your payment method. These fees are set by your financial institution and are payable by you.
Is the program safe? What about animal welfare and participant safety?
Safety and welfare are top priority. All veterinary procedures and wildlife interactions are supervised by qualified wildlife veterinarians. We follow strict animal welfare protocols and safety standards. For participants, we provide safety briefings, necessary protective gear where required, and ensure that all activities are conducted under professional guidance.
